Find My Baby 03:14
Find My Baby the clock is ticking but I got no time the hook is sinking but I got no line to find my baby got to find out where she's gone x2 I looked in windows and I peeped in doors searched in places I ain't been before to find my baby… well you live a moment live a life no difference 'tween the two it's all too long and all too fast when no one's next to you the birds are singing as if nothing's changed the bees are buzzing like she'll come again got to find my baby… Words and Music © Noah Zacharin

Don't Walk Away there may be times the needle drives too deep you live in places that you never even wanted to see there may be times for prayer upon your knees together I know we can find something soft and sweet don't walk away you may think that I will never know how to hold you how afraid are you, you won't even let me try I see the birds and the flowers that surround you I understand but I still don't think it's right don't walk away now the sky is full of stars with no light left there's a sound so small when something beautiful breaks we say no so often leave so much time to drift won't you share this fire with me a few more days don't walk away © Noah Zacharin

Gonna Drown 04:24
Gonna Drown something 'bout the mood I'm in see the sun sinking down something 'bout someplace I wanna go on the dark side of town washed up here all thirsting got some splinters got some nails I got a message in a bottle only love can fix the hull and fill the sails I'm gonna drown my sorrows in whisky gonna drown that whisky in beer gonna drown my aching head for an hour or two in anyone who is near like an ancient zen brass bell the sodden heart does ring and all the secrets you can't bear to tell are so easy to sing gonna drown… sipping on kerosene chewing on coal I'm gonna slow-dance with all the wrong I've done I'm gonna grind it into gold gonna drown...

Miss Me When I'm Gone I never been this afraid of thinking for myself the ride is so much easier when you sit behind someone else I miss the girl I feel the ache I don't mind a few clichés who can look to a distant peak when the dust blows in your face you'll miss me when I'm gone x3 sunrise sunset wax and wane the turning little world it all moves so smoothly till I'm reminded of that girl should I look over my shoulder I might see she does the same we both heed that wise old lie 'time heals the woulds away' you'll miss me… to hear a thing a thousand times and still not feel it once to feel that thing night after night and wish you had a second chance the songbirds cease to favour me there'll be no thaw come spring icy hands upon my heart she's taken everything you'll miss me...

Fan the Flame I am just a man my eyes don't glow in the dark still they're greener than the dollar you can make them spark I dip my hands up to the wrist in your distant hair you can leave me in the morning baby I won't care I say honey would you like to know my name honey would you like to feel the flame burning close to you would you like to fan the flame burning just for you the weather turns the vane there's darkness at the heart who doesn't want more than what's given who doesn't want a better part I spill my tongue into you like a waterfall you can leave me in the morning baby I will never call just say honey… when I walk into the night I expect smoke and a couple of stars a ship in every bottle memories breaking down the heart I'd lie like water beside your flowing skin you can leave me in the morning I'll say I have never been just say honey… now I feel somebody weave whisper in my hair I turn toward the scent of song I see there's no one there so I tune my guitar way down low to the pitch of swampy things you can leave me in the morning baby I will give you the wings just say…would you like to know my name …would you like to feel the flame burning close to you would you like to fan the flame burning just for you

Another She 03:23
Another She you think she paints colours on the mountainside sketches the flash of silver where the rivers rise you think she sees angels in the darkest sky sweetens the air around her like a holy choir you will speak her name hungry hold her hand you'll share a few dark hours when you act the man but you better good for meaning in her words 'cause green-eyes tell you things that can't be understood she will kiss you once then slip into the dark wait a year of seasons for another reason to call you think she'll bring you blossoms for your lonely heart she sets your eyes to burning like two lamps of love you will speak… I fell under her spell again when springtime came her eyes were light her laughs were like a springtime rain I babbled what was broken listened for her reply felt silence swell like a flock of birds about to fly I spoke her name hungry held her hand shared a few short hours when I acted the man you know I listened well for the will behind her words green-eyes told me things that couldn't be understood © Noah Zacharin

Can't Wake Up nothing in my face but disappointment nothing in my arms but memory outside the klaxon sun is sounding inside I crawl between my alcohol and my caffeine and I can't wake up can't shake the haze and murk I can't wake up go beyond this stunted birth I can't wake up it's probably true the stems are blooming it's probably true that beauty walks the streets something turned my sight to sour my eyes are thin and I look at everyone like an enemy and I can't wake up… all my days preserved in amber there's nothing left for me to hide and I spoke to well, you know, I just can't be bothered to remember now I cast the dice in the book of rhymes to see what's buried alive and I can't wake up… so hold your pleasant salutations don't try to get me on the phone if you wanna join this dark celebration leave your confetti and the ice cream melting on your bones and I can't wake up... © Noah Zacharin

A Woman's Tears I seen all colours of the eyes dissolve when love went wrong when I knew this pair of arms was not where I belonged it was lie for a lie truth for a truth sun shine down when love's in its youth dance for a dance kiss for a kiss it's goodbye darling you will be missed a woman's tears are not like lightning they slowly fall to fill the sky a woman's tears are not like thunder when it all comes down they break so quiet her face is smooth as paper the line she writes is always the same a single branch of ocean a single run of rain she'll grow old so beautifully I won't see the change in her she won't see the change in me I won't be around we'll play lost and found forever till the night till the night comes down a woman's tears… now who knew that it would be like this such sorrow after such a sweet kiss who thought about the corner of the room where the time-bomb ticks forty days forty nights thinking forty winters by firelight six days of rust one of wanderlust and empires crumble into the dust a woman's tears…
9.
Night (and There's Nothing Whole) there's a girl with a star tattooed on her shoulder gliding across the room it's too obvious to say but I really would like to hold her I'm witless as an 18 year old groom it's night and there's nothing whole you'd think the dark would make us all one heart one soul it's night and there's nothing whole and there's nothing else you gotta know lay down your two-bit silver on a hundred shards of mirror see what you can see steal close to her heart you see a tattooed quaver she says 'love is all I need' it's night… there's a man who slips himself into a bottle or a body getting hard to hold his head up high hunger and thirst in the incandescent wire we flicker like the northern sky it's night… there's a girl with a scar of a tattoo on her shoulder tried to erase the days after all we think and say and do love still smoulders though we hide it in a thousand ways it's night…

The Way Love Calls a couple of hands a solitary light say move on man there's nothing more to see here hubcap lying by the edge of the street chalk-mark in the shape of a sleeper I hear a whisper from a distant hall is that the way love calls I fire back a kiss through a dozen walls is that the way love calls spanky and the gang the rat-pack too flash and all the freaks that he hangs with smile it slight to see me turn to you after all this time I let my little love languish I hear a whisper… one more verse to steady it up a tripod a tent and an old triangle you got to empty the bottle if you wanna fill the cup till now my heart's been nothing but a cheap and a gaudy bangle I hear a whisper…

about

'Strange Rider' is Noah Zacharin's seventh CD of original songs and music. Unlike much of his previous recorded work, this recording boasts little in the way of acoustic guitar, deriving much of its core sound from various electric guitars in Zacharin's arsenal.
Though often associated with folk music (which he loves AND plays--Mike Seeger, Reverend Gary Davis, Doc Watson being some of his earliest and most enduring models) Zacharin ALSO plays more than folk, demonstrating his versatility and wide-ranging musical interests with this collection of swampy blues, dense laments, gospel and pop tunes. www.minor7th.com/shorttakes6_16.html for a recent review.
